No Ordinary Products

I was approached by Gavin as he had created his range of organic toiletries a couple of years ago and wanted a bank of images that demonstrated his core values whilst making his products look great!

The No Ordinary Product range is Vegan and biodegradable allowing people to care for their hair and skin without having a negative impact on the environment.

Family is at the heart of Gavin’s business and it was important that this theme ran through the images. This also allowed us to demonstrate how the products were gentle on the skin and hair by photographing them being used by his own daughters.

A very important element of this range of products is their story. Created by Gavin in his own home, his original motivation was to create a range of products that he could use himself that would be gentle on his own skin (having suffered quite badly with allergies and intolerances as a child). Combine this with his driving passion to protect the planet and educate others to do the same and the No Ordinary range was born.

An important theme during the shoot was nature, the brand colours of the range are quite vivid, influenced by Aloe, Grapefruit, Satsuma, Coconut and Fuchsia it was important that the images had a pop of colour too. We also wanted to show Gavin’s personality through his portraits and his passion for connecting with nature.

Gavin found a wonderful location in the form of Notting Hill Barn House in Leicestershire. A wooden cabin nestled within a bluebell woods that led down to a small lake. The property itself was rustic, with lots of natural materials and a beautiful wooden hot tub. It even had an outside shower! A absolute gem of a place.

We just managed to finish the brief before the skies turned apocalyptic and the heavens opened! But you should have seen how stunning it made those bluebells!
